In by far the closest game among the first seven contests on the opening day of the 60th annual Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament, Advance needed a rally to knock off Delta. The Hornets, seeded sixth in the 16-team event, trailed by a point at halftime but used a big third quarter to take control. Advance then held on for a 69-64 win over the 11th-seeded Bobcats at the Show Me Center...

In by far the closest game among the first seven contests on the opening day of the 60th annual Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament, Advance needed a rally to knock off Delta.

The Hornets, seeded sixth in the 16-team event, trailed by a point at halftime but used a big third quarter to take control. Advance then held on for a 69-64 win over the 11th-seeded Bobcats at the Show Me Center.

Advance, which improved to 6-1, was led in scoring by Jeremy Limbaugh with 16 points, including 12 in the second half. Daryl Wade added 14 points.

Kevin Bartels poured in 29 points for the Bobcats (3-3). Brent Menz had 13.

Delta led 29-28 at halftime and was still ahead 39-38 midway through the third quarter. But Advance used a 9-0 run to go ahead 47-39 and led 51-42 entering the final period.

The Bobcats hung tough for the entire fourth quarter and trailed by just three points in the late going before the Hornets finally sealed the victory.

Jackson 74, Chaffee 17

Defending champion Jackson began a series of romps by the top four seeds with a demolition of Chaffee.

Top-seeded Jackson (9-0) jumped out to an 18-2 lead after one quarter and was never headed against No. 16 Chaffee (2-4).

Eleven players scored for the Indians, led by Jack Puisis and Ryan Mirly with 14 points apiece. Ryan Leet added 10 points. No player scored more than five points for the Red Devils.

The Indians, ahead 39-8 at halftime and 63-17 after three quarter, blanked the Red Devils in the final period.

In a battle of Bluejays, second-seeded Charleston eased passed No. 15 Oak Ridge.

Justin Clark paced Charleston (5-6) with 18 points. Also in double figures were Shawn Sherrell and Ashton Farmer with 14 points apiece, and Jamarcus Williams with 12.

Oak Ridge (1-7) got 21 points from Austin Hahs and 13 from Austin Morrison.

Charleston led 22-9 after one quarter and 41-21 at halftime.

The Rams (4-3), who lead 49-25 at halftime, also got 11 points from Alex King.

The Eagles (0-6) were paced by Steven Mock with 18 points and Ryan Bouge with 13.

Cape Girardeau Central piled up a 36-13 halftime lead as the fourth-seeded Tigers rolled past No. 13 Leopold.

Eli Harris was the only player for Central (4-4) to reach double figures as he scored 18 points.

No player had more than six points for the Wildcats (2-6).

Scott County Central pulled off a mild upset as the No. 9 Braves (7-1) slipped past No. 8 Notre Dame (3-6) in overtime.

The Braves (7-1) trailed 64-61 with 10 seconds left in regulation, but one Jeremy Johnson free throw with six seconds left and two foul shots by Isaac Porter with 2.6 seconds remaining forced overtime. Porter had 21 points.

After several lead changes in OT, Chris Monroe put the Braves ahead for good at 70-69 with about a minute left.
