ORAN, Mo. — Facing the wrath of Kelly for the second time in eight days, Delta experienced déjà vu it wouldn’t soon forget.
It was another dominant performance for the top-seeded Hawks (15-4), who overpowered the eighth-seeded Bobcats (5-12) by a 95-62 margin in the opening round of the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament at Oran High School on Saturday, Jan. 27.
“I thought we played extremely well on offense,” said Kelly coach Noel Trimmer. “Defensively we gave multiple looks and tried to improve our zone traps.”
Kelly didn't just win big, it spread the wealth with five players reaching double figures.
Michael Dollins led the charge with 23 points, capping a dominant performance with a personal milestone: his 1,000th career point.
Dollins was followed by Dalton Forck with 22, Reece Eftink with 17, Hayden Propst with 13 and Ross Peters with 11.
Paxton Hornbuckle and Ryan Jeffries scored 20 and 15, respectively, for Delta.
Kelly will face fifth-seeded South County Central (10-10) in a semifinal on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m., while Delta takes on fourth-seeded Oak Ridge (9-8) in the consolation bracket on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6:15 p.m.
