CAIRO, Ill. -- Funeral service for Willie May Hicks of Cairo will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. David Hyde will officiate, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 6-9 p.m. today, and Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. to service time.
Hicks, 81, died Sunday, March 3, 1996, in Cairo.
She was born March 29, 1914, in Wickliffe, Ky., daughter of Walter and Jennie Dodson Morgan. She married William Silas Hicks.
Hicks was a retired licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Washington Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bobby Whitis of Olive Branch, Anthony Whitis of St. Louis; a sister, LaVerne Becker of Goodland, Kan.; two stepsisters, Margaret Farrow of Cairo, Beatrice Thomason of Cairo; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
