Robert Hope Wright, 82, of the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, son of James E. and Della Mae Martin Wright. He and Geraldine "Tubby" Ford Wright were married Jan. 15, 1945, in Blytheville, Ark. She died Oct. 16, 1982.
Wright graduated College High School in 1944 in Cape Girardeau. He served in the Army from March 1945 to July 1946. Wright was employed by Esicar's Meat Shop as a meat processor, retiring after 33 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy (David) Hutteger of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Robert R. (Janet) Wright of Huntsville, Ala., James E. (Connie) Wright of St. Louis, Randy D. (Debbie) Wright of Pacific, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn O. Wright of Cape Girardeau; a brother, William (Robbie) Wright of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Madge Sample of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Phyllis Conyers of Overland, Mo., Shirley (Dick) Thomas of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his wife; a son, Steven W. Wright; five brothers; and five sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. A.J. Lohmann officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. The Missouri Honors Team will perform military graveside rites.
