Jessie B. Wescoat, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born March 11, 1911, in Louisville, Ky., daughter of the Rev. Roy and Mary Olsen Basler. She and John L. Wescoat were married March 3, 1934, in Calhoun, Ky. He died April 5, 1994.
Wescoat was a graduate of Central Methodist College. She was librarian at Central High School 18 years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, and PEO Chapter BI.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Dr. Ray Ritter Jr. of Cape Girardeau; three grandsons, Dr. R. August Ritter III of Cape Girardeau, Dr. John L. Ritter of Springfield, Mo., Brian Wescoat Ritter of Corpus Christi, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlen, Graham and Evan Ritter of Cape Girardeau, Jesse and Abby Ritter of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
There is no visitation.
Private service will be held Saturday. The Rev. Clayton Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
