Gary Lee Stevens, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at his home.
He was born July 14, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, to Edwin "Sonny" and Bertha O. Johnson Stevens. He and Judy Elyce Fisk were married Sept. 2, 1976, in Oklahoma City.
Gary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He had been an instructor of physics at Southeast Missouri State University more than 15 years. He was a member of Sigma Chi and was the first National Merit Scholar from Cape Girardeau. Gary was a prankster and loved chocolate.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Stevens of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, J. Valle (Brian) Kincaid of Warsaw, Indiana, Bretton (Scott) Pikey of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Ramsey (Patrick Moyers) Sutter and Brianna (AJ) Biri of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren, Maddie, Ian, Lily, Alexis, Scott Jr., Logan, Carter, Paige, Rhylee, Erynn, Liam and Lincoln; and two great-grandchildren, Tory and Amyah.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
