Eugene J. Arnzen, 81, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 16, 1923, at Laflin, Mo., son of August and Mary Ann Scharonborg Arnzen. He and Loretta A. Steinnerd were married May 28, 1949.
Eugene was a carpenter all his life. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Bishop Timor Council 6405 and American Legion Post 158, all of Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Loving survivors include his wife of Jackson; a son, Mark Arnzen and wife Christina of Jackson; five daughters, Bernita Shrum and husband Tommy of El Dorado, Ark., Carolyn Surface and husband Dean of Grassy, Mo., Kathleen Arnzen and Barbara Arnzen of Jackson, Jane Fields and husband Rick of Glenallen, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Leslie, Amos, Amber, Ashley, Stacey, Molly, Zachary, Seth, Brianna, Ava; and a great-grandson, Kameron.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by the Knights of Columbus rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with graveside military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception School Building Fund.
