Chester Weakley

GLENALLEN, Mo. — Chester Vernon Weakley, 82, of Glenallen died Monday, April 14, 2008, at his home.

He was born June 10, 1925, at Henson, Mo., son of John Walter and Nora Thomas Damsworth Weakley. He and Dorothy Mae Baker were married Jan. 25, 1943, at Charleston, Mo.

Weakley retired in 1979 from Frucon Construction. He was a member of Grassy Friendship Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was involved with the Normandy Beach landing. He was awarded three Bronze Stars and a European Campaign Medal.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, LaVerne Northern of St. Louis, Pauline Rhodes of Marble Hill, Mo., Wanda Duncan of Glenallen, Teresa Burnham of Jeffersonville, Ind.; three sons, Glen Weakley of Marble Hill, Gordon Weakley of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Weakley of Jackson; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, six brothers, three sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bill McCormick officiating. Burial will be in McGee Chapel Cemetery at Glenallen.
