PATTON -- Graveside service for William B. "Bernie" Long of Archer, Fla., was held Thursday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Archer. The Rev. Terry Fulton officiated.
Milam Funeral Home in Gainesville, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
Long, 89, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1909, at Patton, son of William J. "Joe" and Bessie M. Mayfield Long. He and Lillie Wright were married Dec. 12, 1929, at Essex. She preceded him in death.
The Longs lived near Essex several years before moving to Robinson, Ill. He was a land developer and builder in Robinson and in Archer. He retired in 1975 as a building supply salesman. He was building inspector with city of Archer about four years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.Survivors include a son, Norman Long of Archer; three daughters, Anna Newman and Delores Medlin of Robinson, Shirley Sneed of Terre Haute, Ind.; a brother, Ernest Long of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Esther Polen of Millersville, Grace Yamnitz of Perryville; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, a sister, and four grandchildren.
