PUXICO -- Bernice C. Hart Tanner, 77, of Wappapello, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1922, in Festus, daughter of Robert and Catherine Huckup Pringen.
She and Thomas Hart were married. He preceded her in death. She later married James "Star" Tanner June 24, 1981, at Puxico.
Tanner had spent her life in St. Louis and Wappapello. She was a member of the Catholic Church in St. Louis. She worked as a cook at the Puxico Nutrition Center and was a volunteer at the Wappapello Nutrition Center.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard Hart of St. Louis; a daughter, Doris Ackerman of St. Louis County; three stepsons, Eddy Tanner of Roschelle, Ill., Ronnie Tanner of Bowling Green, Ky., and Harold Tanner of DeSoto; three stepdaughters, Virginia Allison of Puxico, Mary Ann Scott of Colorado, and Christa Willard of High Ridge; a brother, Raymond Pringen of St. Louis County; a half-sister, Margaret McCosh of St. Louis County; five grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wiley McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Puxico Cemetery.
