Teen nutrition program created in Scott County
SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Scott County Health Department will begin addressing the county's obesity problem by creating a teen nutrition program. The Standard Democrat reported that the county's health department and community partners have decided to establish the Teen Nutrition program here. Stacey Dame, a social worker for the county health department, said the Teen Nutrition program uses three strategies to change behavior: training and technical assistance for healthy school meals; nutrition education for the children; and school and community support. Dame said the county health department will be contacting school officials to see which schools in Scott County are interested in participating.
