Drawing Christmas pictures wasn't too difficult for students at Jefferson School. But choosing the right colors was.
As part of a PTA fund-raising event, the students entered a drawing contest but could only use color combinations of red and green or blue and green.
The winning pictures were printed into postcards by a St. Louis company.
After some complaining about the limited colors, the students began to think about the possibilities and not limitations of the project, said Ann Freeman, who helped coordinate the project.
One picture from each class was chosen to be printed. In all, 400 copies of the 14 different designs were printed.
"They all worked so hard that it was hard to come up with winner," Freeman said. "Everybody tried to have some input."
The designs were judged by PTA officers, the principal and the art teacher, in case of a tie.
Some of the designs include Christmas wreaths, Christmas trees, stockings, angels or a Christmas scene.
The cards have been used as bulletin board displays at the school, thank-you notes and sold to parents and faculty.
For more information about how to purchase the cards, contact the school at 334-2030.
