Special scouting nights will be held at Cape Girardeau and Jackson schools this week.

"School Night to Join Scouting" will provide opportunities for boys to join Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, said Tony Smee, Shawnee District executive.

Smee explained the programs available.

"First-graders can join the Tigers Cubs," he said. "Cub Scouts includes boys in the second and third grades; Webeloes, fourth and fifth grades; and Boy Scouts, grades six through 12."

Scout representatives will be on hand at each of the special meetings to explain scouting programs and costs.

"Parents are asked to attend these meetings," said Smee. One school, Clippard Elementary, will hold meetings on two separate nights.

The week's schedule:

Tuesday: Clippard, Cape Girardeau, 6 p.m.

Thursday: Washington, St. Vincent's, Alma Schrader and Jefferson Schools, Cape Girardeau, 7 p.m., and Clippard, 6 p.m.

Wednesday: Orchard Elementary, Jackson, 7 p.m.
