At least 10 people have died on Missouri roads during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

They included:

Danny Calahan, 50, of Galena, was killed Monday night in Stone County. The patrol said his car left a road about three miles west of Galena, striking a tree and catching fire. Calahan was dead at the scene.

Michael Harris, 49, of Caruthersville, was killed Monday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed into a turning vehicle that failed to yield, the patrol said. Harris was thrown from his eastbound motorcycle and hit by a second westbound vehicle around 3 p.m. Monday on Missouri 84 in Caruthersville.

Only two deaths were reported during the Memorial Day counting period last year, which lasts from 6 p.m. Friday until midnight on Memorial Day.

In 2001, 16 deaths were reported during the holiday weekend.
