The Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club will celebrate Pachyderm Founder's Day and hear a presentation on the Center for Self Governance at its meeting today at Dexter Bar-B-Que, 236 S. Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau.

Mark Herr will deliver the presentation. He's president of the Center for Self Governance, which trains citizens on ways to become more effectively involved in local, state and federal levels of government.

The Pachyderm Founder's Day is observed each year around April 20, celebrating the start of the National Pachyderm movement and the local club's formation. The celebration today includes cake, awards and recognition of past club leaders.

The program is open to the public. The group gathers at 6 p.m. to eat, and a brief business meeting begins at 6:45 before the program at 7 p.m.
