Duane Haffner, 24, of Jackson was arrested Tuesday in connection with statutory rape of a 16-year-old girl. According to the Jackson police, Haffner admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl in interviews regarding the allegations against him.
Haffner was charged with second-degree statutory rape and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Haffner was convicted of making terroristic threats last February, when he placed a phone call to Jackson police saying he planned on entering the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse with a bomb in his shoe.
Leotis Sylvester Allen, 22, paid Haffner to place the call, hoping that police would tackle him and he could sue for injuries.
When two Jackson detectives recognized Haffner's voice and traced the call to the Gibson Recovery Center, where both Allen and Haffner were staying, the plot was effectively foiled.
Haffner received a sentence of five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, but was released after 120 days and placed on probation under the supervision of the Board of Probation and Parole for the remainder of his sentence.
