He is a member of Washington Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Alumni Association.
Johnston and his wife, the former Lillian Muenks, are parents of three grown children, Stephanie Re' of St. Louis; Matthew Johnston, St. Louis and Dr. Valerie Johnston of Sikeston.
