The following information was released by the office of federal prosecutor Richard G. Callahan for defendants appearing in federal court before U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey on Tuesday.
PLEADED GUILTY
Name: Scott Eugene Peetz
Age: 50
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: Conspiracy to manufacture 5 grams or more of methamphetamine
Sentencing: Set for April 20. Peetz could face 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine.
Summary: Peetz admitted that with his plea that on April 3 he was operating a methamphetamine laboratory. SEMO Drug Task Force officers found evidence that attempts at cooking methamphetamine took place at Peetz's home numerous times. DEA agents established through investigation that Peetz had been getting precursor chemicals from various individuals in exchange for finished methamphetamine.
SENTENCED
Name: Kyle Weston Madden
Age: 21
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: One felony count of possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine
Sentence: 84 months in prison
Summary: On May 15 the SEMO Drug Task Force received information that Madden recently committed a burglary at the Medicap pharmacy in Cape Girardeau. Madden was arrested on unrelated warrants, and hundreds of pills were found in his pockets. Many of the pills contained pseudopehedrine and controlled pharmaceuticals similar to the type stolen from Medicap.
