At least one area woman was injured because of icy roads this weekend, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports.

Janet Randolph, 47, of Perryville, Mo., was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after losing control of her van near Oran Saturday night.

According to an accident report, Randolph was southbound on Missouri Highway 77, a mile south of Oran, around 8:20 p.m., when she lost control of her 1996 Dodge Caravan because of ice and ran off the road, causing the van to overturn.

Randolph received moderate injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.

A Charleston, Mo., man received moderate injuries Saturday night after falling asleep at the wheel.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said George W. Ivie, 62, was southbound on Missouri Highway 77, a quarter mile south of Wyatt in Mississippi County around 11 p.m. Ivie apparently fell asleep while driving, and his 1991 Chevrolet left the road and struck some trees.

An accident report indicates Ivie was taken by ambulance to the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.; however, personnel at the medical center said he was transferred to another facility before arriving there.

A group of Perryville residents received minor injuries Saturday evening after colliding with an oncoming car that had a tire blowout.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said that Robert R. Ruessler, 19, of St. Mary, Mo., was southbound on Highway 61, a half mile south of Brewer around 5:30 p.m.

The front left tire of Ruessler's 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup blew out, causing the truck to cross the centerline and collide with a northbound 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Charles H. Pfaff, 30, of Perryville.

Four passengers in Pfaff's car, all of Perryville, received minor injuries and were taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The passengers included Beatrice P. Pfaff, 26, Brittany L. Sutton, 5, Tiffany N. Sutton, 4, and Stacha L. Winick, 9.
