Brimming with more than 120 years of stories to tell, the historic and charming Victorian Glenn House will be a scene for turn-of-the-century splendor later this month, enhanced by an activity that was commonly indulged in during that period: tea tasting.
A Victorian tea-tasting party, presented by Tea By Two Sisters LLC, will be held at the Glenn House from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 30. The tasting, complete with lace, china and silver, will be held on the front porch of the two-story home at 325 S. Spanish St.
Leading the tea tasting will be sisters Jamie Koehler and Christy Weber, who will also give a presentation about tea and its history. The sisters grew up learning about herbs from their parents, Don and Carol Koehler, so it is no wonder that Tea By Two Sisters LLC has become something they consider more about a passion for fine things and good times, rather than a business. Collecting china, linens and tea treasures to share at events such as these is their hobby.
Tours will also be available. The cost of $20 includes a $10 donation to the Glenn House.
Those wishing to take the tour may walk through the main-level parlor, kitchen, dining room, butler's pantry and library.
From the upper level, one may hear the whistle of a passing boat or enjoy the second-story view of the river.
