Four area students have placed in the Missouri Elementary Student Mathematics Contest, held earlier this month in Columbia.
The students were among 470 competing in the event from around the state. The contest included students from third through sixth grades.
Among those who placed were:
Jonathan Anderson, a sixth grader from Alma Schrader Elementary School in Cape Girardeau, who placed seventh in problem solving and 10th in concepts.
Christy Jansen, a sixth grader from St. Mary's Elementary School in Cape Girardeau, who placed seventh in estimation and computation.
Michael Williams, a fifth grader from North Elementary School in Jackson, who placed third in concepts.
Kristopher Kueker, a fifth grader from Perryville, who placed sixth in problem solving and ninth in estimation and computation.
The competition was sponsored by the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
