POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A father and son from Arkansas were killed when their pickup truck went off a Southeast Missouri highway and hit several trees, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 60, about 10 miles west of Poplar Bluff.

The patrol identified the victims as John Pulliam, 15, who was driving the 1990 Chevrolet pickup, and his 51-year-old father, also named John Pulliam, both of Blytheville, Ark.

The two were pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Larry Cotrell.

The Pulliams are the 49th and 50th fatalites in Troop E this year.
