SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Some faculty members at Missouri State University are considering forming a union or staging some other type of protest in a disagreement with administrators.
Faculty members are upset with a Board of Governor's decision last Friday to give the administration the power to reassign faculty without their consent.
The university's Faculty Senate and a provost's committee had recommended against making the change.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that economics professor Reed Olsen says a union might give the faculty a stronger voice in how the university is operated.
President Mike Nietzel had recommended the change. The issue became controversial on campus after four faculty members in the social work program were removed from classroom teaching in 2008.
