DISTRICT FAIR SEEKS CONTESTANTS FOR DERBY AND CONTESTS

The Southeast Missouri District Fair is looking for contestants in three competitions scheduled during fair week Sept. 8-14 a baby contest, a fiddler's contest and the demolition derby.

Babies ages newborn through 17 months may compete in the annual baby contest to be held Sept. 10 in the R&R tent at 4:30 p.m. Babies from the 19-county fair area are eligible. Registration deadline is Sept. 7.

Fiddlers of all ages are invited to compete in the Old Tyme Fiddler's contest Sept. 12 in the R&R tent at 1 p.m. Contestants may bring their own backup or accompanists, but no electrical instruments are allowed. Registration is free.

Cars and drivers are also needed for the annual demolition derby Sept. 9 in the grandstand. The contest begins at 8 p.m.
