JACKSON -- Oak Ridge, Advance, Delta and Nell Holcomb school districts received new school board members in elections Tuesday.
Each district had two two-year positions available. Candidates in the Oak Ridge and Advance elections ran unopposed, while five candidates battled in Delta and three candidates ran for Nell Holcomb's school board.
The new school board members in Oak Ridge are Stephen Schonhoff, receiving 65 votes, and Richard Baer, receiving 68 votes.
Although mainly in Stoddard County, the Advance school district also lies within parts of Cape Girardeau and Bollinger County. The results from all three counties awarded Rodney Cantrell and William Anthony "Tony" Jenkins the school board positions with 96 and 86 votes, respectively.
Delta voters elected John Livingston and Herbert Blattel Jr. to school board positions. Livingston received 117 votes, and Blattel received 80 votes in their election bids. Truman Nussbaum Jr., Roger Seabaugh and Garry Moore were also candidates in the election, receiving 75, 48 and 21 votes, respectively, in their unsuccessful efforts.
In the Nell Holcomb elections, Dwayne Kirchhoff and Charles Roberts edged out Darrin Pruitt in their bids for seats on the school board. Kirchhoff received 53 votes, Roberts had 47 and Pruitt received 18 votes in the election.
