A new committee that is taking a look at Cape Girardeau's noise ordinance will hear from residents and business owners at a special meeting Nov. 30 at the Osage Community Centre. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m.

The committee is trying to determine whether the city's noise ordinance needs to be changed, more strongly enforced or left as it is.

A number of downtown neighbors have made complaints against the Bel Air Grill, which hosts outdoor rock bands over the summer. The neighbors claim the sound of the amplified music was disruptive and citations were issued to the business.

City officials and members of the noise disturbance committee hope to find a balance that allows the business to continue having outdoor acts while addressing the concerns of the neighbors.
