What do you love about your work?

There are so many things I love about this job. Every day is different, so I'm never bored. I go from writing about wedding trends to shopping for insurance and everything in between. I've met great people, especially the amazing women who have graced the cover of Flourish. The photo shoots we do for Flourish and iDO are probably my favorite part, though. They're a lot of hard work, but how many jobs are there where you get to shop and play dress up all day? And I love the satisfaction of seeing a vague concept come to life in front of the camera.

What's the most satisfying part about your work?

Nothing makes me happier than going into a local business and seeing our magazines displayed. It gives me a thrill, mostly because of the wonderful people we profile in our publications. Until I started this job, I didn't really realize how many fascinating people there are in our community. I'm proud that we give these people a moment in the spotlight and the recognition they deserve.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your line of work?

Journalism, contrary to popular opinion, isn't dying. But it is changing and the more you know about all aspects of the process -- writing, editing, designing, taking photos, making videos -- the better off you are. Learn as much as you can from as many people as you can. Be willing and able to adapt to change because it's going to happen with or without you.
