Greg Carda knows his health care management decisions are ultimately affecting the lives of patients. As chief market operations officer at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center and Health Management Associates of Southeast Missouri, Carda has worked to establish a reputation of openness, honesty and credibility. A Poplar Bluff native, Carda earned bachelors degrees in accounting and finance and is a certified public accountant. After working in public accounting, focusing on bank auditing and corporate and personal taxation, he's spent 21 years in a variety of administrative health care roles. He's active in several community organizations, including working with the Poplar Bluff Boys and Girls Club, Three Rivers College and Poplar Bluff R1 Schools. He also serves on the boards of the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club. He's an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Missouri Hospital Association. Carda and his wife Lisa have five children: Jerrad, 29; Brooke, 22; Kirstie, 20; Kory, 20; and Spencer, 17.

Knowing that doing your job properly can have a significant impact in improving the health and lives of those people made vulnerable by accident or disease. Through balancing the needs of a diverse group of highly intelligent people and coordinating their activities, it's incredibly rewarding to see that together the results are greater than any one person could achieve and become the end product to benefit our patients.

__What community issue/cause is most important to you and why?__

The economic development of the area we serve. With the building of a new state-of-the-art hospital now under way, the completion of four-lane Highway 67 and a proposed large-scale, multiuse retail development at the intersection of Highway 67 and Highway 60, Poplar Bluff is in the enviable position of having the infrastructure and support services ready and available to experience explosive economic growth. The future success of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical can be much brighter with such large-scale economic growth.
