ST. LOUIS — Hundreds of union workers held a rally in St. Louis to show support of Teamsters who work for Anheuser-Busch.
Organizers say the rally was a show of unity as Anheuser-Busch is in the process of being acquired by Belgium brewer InBev.
The group gathered on Saturday, as Teamsters officials prepare to start contract negotiations with Anheuser-Busch today.
The union is pushing InBev to demonstrate a firm commitment to union jobs.
Jack Cipriani, director of the Teamsters brewery and soft drink conference, told a crowd assembled at Kiener Plaza that so far InBev has said all the right things.
The Teamsters represented about 8,000 Anheuser-Busch employees in the U.S.
The five-year labor agreement between Anheuser-Busch and the Teamsters is set to expire on Feb. 28.
