There were eight new business in Ste. Genevieve County during the first three months of 2002.
That's according to the First Quarter Business Development Bulletin from the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission in Perryville.
During the same period, one business closed and one business expanded in the county.
The new businesses in Ste. Genevieve County added 30 full-time and five part-time jobs to the workforce.
The closing business resulted in the loss of 14 full-time jobs.
New businesses in Ste. Genevieve County are:
-- Little Corner Store, 502 N. Third Street, Ste. Genevieve, food sales, with one full-time worker, opened on Jan. 11.
-- Jotto Graphics, 626 Rozier Drive, Ste. Genevieve, small sign graphics, with one full-time worker, opened on Jan. 15.
-- Baker Installations, Trautman Industrial Complex, Ste. Genevieve, telecommunications outsourcing, with 20 full-time workers, opened on Jan. 30.
-- H&R Block, 20 Triangle Drive, Ste. Genevieve, tax preparation and services, with one full-time worker, opened on Feb. 7.
-- The Movie Gallery, The Plaza Ste. Genevieve, Ste. Genevieve, movie rentals, with two full-time and four part-time workers, opened on Feb. 7.
-- Escotek, 980 Rozier Drive, Ste. Genevieve, computer installation, maintenance and consultation, with one full-time worker, opened on March 15.
-- Town and Countryside, 980 Rozier Drive, Ste. Genevieve, landscaping and water creations, with one full-time worker, opened on March 15.
-- Mid America Rehab, 21964 Highway 32, Ste. Genevieve, rehabilitative therapy services, with three full-time workers and one part-time worker, opening March 25.
One business expanded during the first quarter:
Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, Highway 61 North, Ste. Genevieve, health services, opening a new oncology wing on Jan. 11.
One business closed during the first quarter:
Polar Tank, I-55 and Route O, metal fabrication for repair of tank trailers, with 14 full-time workers, closed March 20.
