Razing Cain will open at 11 S. Spanish St. at 4 p.m. Thursday.

It's the first business to open operated by The Broadway Esquire Entertainment Group, which is also working to renovate the Esquire Theater on Broadway and has plans for a Marquee Diner.

Chef James Cain is joining the Group to lead Razing Cain, described as a polished casual eatery. Cain studied at the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institutes Chicago.

The menu will feature ingredients from local markets with influences in the Mediterranean, Italian and French cuisine. From bacon-wrapped dates to aged steaks and handmade ravioli, the menu will offer a wide range of price points at the highest quality, according to a news release.

The Broadway Esquire Entertainment Group, which owns and operates Razing Cain Restaurant and Bar, did not assume liability for the outstanding Mollie's gift certificates when it purchased the assets of the former Mollie's restaurant.

According to John Buckner, president of the group, Razing Cain will do its best to honor the gift certificates as they are presented.

Razing Cain wants to encourage gift certificate holders to inform management that they have valid Mollie's gift certificates when they make a reservation.

* St. Louis based company Budrovich, involved in the construction, excavating, land development and crane rental business, will open an office and equipment rental yard near Cape Girardeau. Tom Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont Place Ltd., handled the recent real estate transaction at 1716 E. Outer Road. Budrovich's new location is across Interstate 55 from the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport between Negwer Materials and Macke Farm Equipment. The company was formed in 1945 by Sam Budrovich and is still owned and operated by third generation family members. They provide services to industrial and commercial projects including chemical and refining industries, nuclear power, wind energy, power generation and distribution along with other large construction facilities needing specialized hoisting services, Kelsey said. In addition to crane rental, Budrovich is also involved in land development, utility construction, excavation and construction equipment repair and service. The new Cape Girardeau branch location will allow them to serve new and existing customers in the tri-state area more efficiently, along with maintaining rental equipment inventory closer to projects in the region. Plans are to have the operation open within the next few weeks, Kelsey said.

* The Bank of Advance, with locations in Advance, Dexter and Bell City, was recently assigned the rating of A+ by Weiss Ratings, an independent financial institution rating service provider. A+ is the highest rating Weiss assigns. The Bank of Advance is only one of 19 banks in the entire nation that is currently rated A+ by Weiss Ratings and the only bank in Missouri with such a rating, said Harold M. Miles, bank president.

* Broadway Prescription Shop has added the SP 200 Robotic Prescription Dispensing System from ScriptPro. The SP 200 performs the time-consuming and tedious tasks of counting pills, filling vials and labeling prescriptions using advanced robotics technology, said Kevin Wood, pharmacist and owner. It counts and fills up to 150 prescriptions an hour, he said, leaving the staff more time for personalized service and counseling. The pharmacy is holding a "Name the Robot" contest through March 15, offering participants the chance to win a Nook Color. See contest details at www.facebook.com/broadwayprescriptionshop.

* Last week Sears Holding Corp. announced its second round of store closings since December, but so far Cape Girardeau's Sears Grand and Kmart stores seem to have escaped these cuts. The company plans to close more than 100 stores nationwide, citing a combination of lower sales, especially for big-ticket items, and increasing expenses.
