Simpkins, of Scott City, Mo., was named "Preceptor of the Year" during the June convention of the NAGNA. As a trained preceptor at the veterans home, Simpkins works with new CNA employees at the home.

Schmidt, of Altenburg, Mo., was named winner of the NAGNA essay contest for 2001. The essay contest them was "How NAGNA has helped me become a better CNA."
