Thomas M. Meyer of Thomas L. Meyer Realty Co. recently attended the National Association of Realtors convention in Miami, Fla. More than 16,000 realtors attended.
Meyer, who was accompanied by his wife, represented Missouri as its 1994 president-elect. He attended forums on real estate professional standards and techniques.
Meyer is a member of the International Real Estate section of the association. As president-elect, he represents more than 18,000 licensed realtors in the state.
Suzanne Dufek of Anesthesia Associates of Cape Girardeau was selected vice president of the Missouri Association of Nurse Anesthetists during a recent meeting in St. Louis.
Dufek, past director of Region III, representing anesthetists in 49 counties of the eastern half of the state, is president of the Educational District of the Southeast Missouri Association of Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
Shirley Shoemaker of Michelson Jewelers, West Park Mall, recently completed the Diamond Council of America's course in diamontology.
Shoemaker is now registered as a certified diamonatologist with the council, and plans to continue her education by enrolling in a gemology course.
Shoemaker has been in the jewelry business for two years.
Kathryn W. Comish has joined Craftmasters as Midwest marketing director.
Comish, a native of Sikeston, is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and agriculture education. She earned a master's degree in agriculture at Clemson University.
She has held a sales management position in Alabama.
Craftsmasters is a distributor of educational materials for churches, schools and homes.
Lynda C. Muench was recently promoted by Craftsmasters to assistant manager at the company's Sikeston store. Muench has been a member of the Craftsmasters sales staff for three years. She is a graduate of Arkansas State University, with a bachelor of arts degree in English.
Dr. Dirk S. Proffer of Virginia Beach, Va., a native of Cape Girardeau, has joined Atlantic Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Virginia Beach.
Proffer obtained his bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry and master's degree in chemistry at Western Illinois University. He completed his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago and served an internship at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus.
He served as chief of knee, shoulder and sports medicine surgery at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., from 1990-1993.

Ronald J. Lambert will be installed as director of the St. Louis District Internal Revenue Service office Dec. 13. The St. Louis district office is responsible for federal tax matters throughout Missouri. Lambert started his IRS career in 1966 as a revenue agent in Madison, Wis.
Paul "Butch" Meier, a Jackson farmer and Angus breeder, has been selected president of the American Angus Association.
Meier, a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in animal science, operates Butch's Angus Farm near Jackson. He has been active in Angus and beef cattle activities since he purchased his first Angus cattle for a 4-H project as a youngster.
Meier, a longtime member of the Missouri Angus Association, is a member and past president of Southeast Missouri Cattlemen's Association, and has served as chairman of the Cape Girardeau County University of Missouri Extension Council. In 1978 he was selected Missouri's Outstanding Young Farmer.
He served two terms on the Angus Association Board of Directors and was elected vice president of the group in 1993.
