Dr. Mark C. Kasten of Cape Girardeau has completed continuing medical educational requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The requirements call for members to complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing medical study every three years.
Kasten has been an active AAFP member since 1980.

Elaine Heuring of Wolohan Lumber has been named a member of Wolohan Lumber's 1993 Customer Service Hall of Fame.
She was one of 14 employees from 53 Wolohan stores who received the honor. She has been with Wolohan since the store opened in Cape Girardeau in 1990.
Heuring, of Kelso, and her husband, Jerry Heuring, attended the special awards ceremony held in Saginaw, Mich., recently.

Christopher Lee DeWitt of McGinty Jewelers in downtown Cape Girardeau recently completed a course in diamonds at the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, Calif.
DeWitt, who received the institute's Diamond Certificate, mastered a range of information and skills from geology and mineralogy to world diamond market conditions and fashion.

The In-Home Services group, headquartered at Caruthersville, serves 19 counties. A second office is located at Sikeston.

A photograph taken by Cape Girardeau photographer Tom Neumeyer was published in the July issue of "New Choices For Retirement Living," a magazine published by the Readers Digest Association.
Neumeyer photographed Corinne Whitehead, a 60-year-old environmental activist who lives near Paducah, Ky., for the publication.
Neumeyer has served as photographer and newswriter for local newspapers before becoming a full-time, independent professional photographer two years ago in wedding and commercial photography. He is currently providing photography for a book on antique silver pieces.
Neumeyer and his wife, Terri, also operate The Olive Branch Bed and Breakfast in downtown Cape Girardeau.
