The Johnson and Montgomery law firm of Cape Girardeau has become the Johnson, Montgomery and Macguire law firm. Michael H. Macguire, an attorney here since his graduation from Notre Dame University Law School in 1986, recently joined Gerald H. Johnson and Malcolm H. Montgomery, 234 N. Sprigg.

Terry Miederhoff of Perryville has been appointed a career agent with the Missouri Farm Bureau Federation of Affiliated Companies in Cape Girardeau County. Miederhoff recently completed a two-week training session on life, accident-health, property and casualty Insurance. He will work out of the office at 406 W. Washington in Jackson.

Rick Heuring of Heuring Accounting Services, Scott City, recently qualified for the designation enrolled agent. Heuring passed a national examination in taxation given by the Internal Revenue service.

Verlene Versman has been appointed consultant at the Perryville Miracle-Ear office and Lin Hahs has joined the Cape Girardeau Miracle-Ear office.

Verseman, of Perryville, completed training at the Miracle-Ear Hearing Instrument School in St. Louis and serves the hearing impaired in Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties. The Perryville office is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for testing, repair services and to provide batteries for hearing instruments.

Hahs, of Sedgewickville, a hearing instrument specialist for more than eight years, recently joined Miracle-Ear as a hearing instrument specialist.

William T. Crain has joined the staff of Crain Funeral Homes, which has facilities in the Illinois communities of Anna, Dongola, Ullin, Tamms and Pleasant Grove.

Crain, a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1960, formerly owned and operated funeral homes in Cairo, Mounds and Mound City before acquiring WKRO Radio at Cairo. He recently sold the radio stations.

Crain will be primarily responsible for the Crain Funeral Home and Pleasant Grove Memorial Park between Murphysboro and Carbondale. He will serve families in Alexander, Pulaski and Union counties.

The Crain family of funeral directors has served Southern Illinois for more than 60 years.

The authors of a paper on the training needs of Southeast Missouri businesses received the Irwin Distinguished Paper Award at the annual meeting of the Midwest Business Administration Association in Chicago.

Jack Sterrett, associate professor of marketing and interim director of the career planning and placement office at Southeast Missouri State University, and Karen Wunderlich, supervisor of the technical assistance unit of the Missouri Department of Education, authored the paper.

Sharon Williams, owner of Williams Hearing Center in Cape Girardeau, was recently re-elected secretary of the Missouri Hearing Aid Society during the annual meeting and convention at Osage Beach. Williams has been associated with Williams Hearing Center since July 1988. She is board certified in hearing instrument sciences by the International Hearing Aid Society.

D. Joseph McKeon of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., Cape Girardeau, recently attended the Missouri Association of Life Underwriters annual convention at the Radisson Hotel in St. Louis.

McKeon was installed new regional vice president, MALU Region II, which is comprised of associations in Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, Kennett, and Cape Girardeau. He will serve as liaison between the local associations and the state board of directors and the state administrative office.

McKeon has been a director on the MALU Board of Directors for three years and has served as awards chairman.

Carol Roth of Lafayette, Calif., formerly of Cape Girardeau, has joined Berlex Biosciences of Richmond, Calif., as patent council.

Roth received her undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her law degree form Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, Calif. She worked for Syntex at Palo Alto, Calif., for 13 years as researcher and patent attorney.

One of the Berlex products is Betaseron, a therapeutic product for treatment of multiple schlorosis, which was named Product of the Year for 1993 by Fortune Magazine.

Roth is daughter of Milton and Billie Roth of Cape Girardeau.

Charlotte Clover of Cobden, Ill. has been named an agent in the Country Companies Jackson-Union agency, 104 W. Broad St., Jonesboro. The Country Companies include Country Mutual, Country Casualty and Country Life Insurance and Country Investors Life Assurance Co.

Diane Bauman has joined The Boyd Gaming Group as a Human Resource Manager. Bauman, who was previously employed at Dana Corp., is now working in the Philadelphia, Miss., area, where Boyd will operate a gambling casino for the Choctaw Indians. The new casino will open this summer.
