Drs. Jerry L. Karr and Richard J. Tipton have joined the medical staff of the Gene E. Huckstep Emergency Center of St. Francis Medical Center.
Karr, a native of Southern Illinois, served as a physician at Fort Leonard Wood hospital. He was also a member of the medical staff of Springfield (Mo.) Community Hospital and has been active on the medical staff of Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. He is board certified in emergency medicine.
Karr received his undergraduate degree in biology at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., and his osteopathic degree at Oklahoma State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa.
Tipton practiced optometry in Cape Girardeau before redirecting his studies to the medical field. He earned a bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, and a degree in optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. He received his osteopathic degree in 1991 from the University Health Science Center in Kansas City. He served an internship at Methodist Hospital in Memphis and a family medicine residency at St. Francis in Memphis.
He has been affiliated with Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston; Methodist Hospital in Brownsville, Tenn.; and Somerville Methodist Hospital in Somerville, Tenn. Tipton is board eligible in family medicine.
Amy Jacquin, Kathy Sweeney and Eve Annunziato have joined KFVS-12 as reporters.
Jacquin, who has held positions with WXIN-TV in Indianapolis and KSDK-TV in St. Louis, works out of the Cape Girardeau office. She is a graduate of Webster University in St. Louis with a bachelor of science degree in business administration-marketing and media communications.
Sweeney, a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a bachelor of science degree in radio and television, has served as reporter, producer and anchor at WSIL-TV in Carterville. She works at the bureau in Carbondale.
Annunziato, who has experience as reporter and anchor at WITN-TV in Washington, N.C., also works at Carbondale. She is a graduate of Neaumann College in Philadelphia, with a degree in communications and journalism.
Coleen Kane of Cape Girardeau has joined Jay's Salon, 42 N. Main.
Kane, hair stylist and massage therapist, will also offer pedicures and facials.
Kane, formerly of Springfield, Mo., is a graduate of the Hillcrest Beauty School. She worked in the Springfield area before moving to Cape Girardeau.
Anne Foust of Cape Girardeau Garden Supply, 105 S. Plaza Way, recently attended the Atlanta, Ga., Gift Mart, where she purchased fall merchandise, Christmas decorations and other gifts.
Several promotions have been announced by the J.C. Penney Co. Styling Salon in West Park Mall.

SIKESTON -- Richard Wrather, founder and owner of Media Consultants, has been elected president of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce.
Other officers are Steve McPheeters, vice president of AmeriFirst Bank, first vice president; Mike Marshall, senior vice president of First National Bank, second vice president; and Delores Knuckles, a Sikeston businesswoman, treasurer.
Sam Harbin is director of the Sikeston chamber.
