Donna Kerfes of Jackson has joined R. Clifford Smith, Certified Public Accountants, 416 S. Kingshighway, Number 4, of Cape Girardeau as a staff accountant.
Kerfes previously worked for Carl Smith, Certified Public Accountant, at Jackson.
Thomas R. Higgins, a Cape Girardeau accountant, has been appointed to membership in the Association of Business Accountants.
Members of the national association, headquartered at Casper, Wyo., attend on-going training workshops and receive cassette training classes each month. Members also have an on-line database -- AccountNET -- which connects more than 1,000 small business accountants.
Patricia A. Murray, of the Regional Employee Assistance Program, 1734 N. Kingshighway, has completed requirements for the Certified Employee Assistance Professional certification.
The certification process requires 3,000 hours of on-site supervision by another C.E.A.P, and an examination.
Regional Employee Assistance Program contracts with business and industry to provide mental health and chemical dependency assessment, consultation and counseling services to employees.
Dr. Zenon M. Duda of Cape Girardeau attended the 24th annual William L. Goldfarm Clinical Conference recently.
The four-day postdoctoral meeting, held at Hershey, Pa., featured a number of workshops and lectures on podiatry. Several courses were conducted on surgical techniques on the foot and ankle.
Duda has a private practice at 35 Doctors' Park.
"Employee of the Year" awards have been presented to Laurel Toussaint, Jan Weston and Gayla Mitchell by Tip of Illinois Health Services Inc., headquartered at Carterville, Ill.
Toussaint, a 13-year employee, is manager at Tip's branch office in Anna; Weston of Vienna is branch office manager at Metropolis and Mitchell is administrative assistant at the Marion branch.
Others receiving special recognition for special service were Evelyn Taylor of McClure, Ramona Kee and Delois Brown, both of Cairo, and Lee Miller of Villa Ridge.
William L. Orendorff has been named chairman, president and chief executive officer at Mercantile Bank of Doniphan. Orendorff succeeds Allen L. Schaper, who has been named to head Mercantile's Bancorporation's latest affiliate, United Savings Bank, at Lebanon.
Orendorff has been senior vice president and senior loan officer at Mercantile Bank of Doniphan since 1992. He previously worked at United Missouri Bank of Paris, Mo.
Schaper, who was president of Mercantile Bank of Doniphan since 1991, has worked in the banking industry since 1976. He previously served as executive vice president and senior loan officer at the Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau, from 1988 through 1991.
Mercantile Bancorporation Inc., based in St. Louis, has assets of $12.1 billion and owns 43 financial institutions in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Iowa.
Christine McReynolds and Mary Brotherton have received promotions at Boatmen's BAnk.
McReynolds, who joined Boatmen's main bank at Jackson's Square as a real estate lender in 1992, was promoted to vice president in real estate lending.
McReynolds of Jackson has 15 years of banking experience. Prior to joining Boatman's, she worked with Jackson Exchange Bank for 13 years.
Brotherton, who serves as Boatmen's retail training administrator, responsible for planning, development and implementation of all retail-oriented training programs, was promoted to assistant vice president in retail training.
She joined Boatmen's in 1985. She was named facility manager at the bank's Mount Auburn Road and Kingshighway site in 1989.
Brotherton of Cape Girardeau has more than 17 years of experience in banking. She previously worked at New ERa BAnk in Fredericktown for seven years.
Doris Jean Arnold of Century 21 Ashland Realty Co., 105 S. Broadview, has received the Centurion Award, one of the highest levels of recognition awarded to top-producing, top-servicing sales associates and offices in the Century 21 System.
Only 1.5 percent of the 70,000 Century 21 sales associates achieve the Centurion Award.
