Rosie Danker, diabetic rehabilitation nurse at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, has been named 1995 "Nurse of the Year" at St. Francis.
Danker of Perryville was one of three finalists for Nurse of the Year. Other finalists were Jan Parker of Jackson, a nurse in the Gene E. Huckstep Emergency Center at St. Francis, and Sherry Welter of Scott City, a member of St. Francis' postanesthesia recovery nursing staff.
Danker received her nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University and was staff nurse at St. Francis until Aug. 1983. She was a school nurse in Perryville public school system during the 1983-84 school year, then worked for Dr. James Dzur until 1992, when she returned to St. Francis to become the medical center's first certified diabetic educator.
As diabetic rehabilitation nurse, Danker serves as a diabetic educator for inpatients and outpatients.
Kevin Grimsley and Jon Hastings of the Lutesville Motor Co. Inc., have been selected to receive Ford Quality Care Medallion awards for 1994.
The Medallion Program is sponsored nationally by Ford Motor Co. to recognized employees in dealership parts, service and body shops who excel in helping their dealership build customer satisfaction.
Grimsley is service manager and Hastings is parts manager at Lutesville Motors.
Wayne C. Thomas of Oak Grove has been named interim executive director of East Missouri Action Agency, headquartered at Park Hills.
Thomas attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and Michigan State University-Lansing. He has extensive experience in community action programs and served as interim executive director of Missouri Ozarks Community Action at Richland; Ozark Action Inc. of West Plains and Northeast Missouri Communicty Action at Kirksville.
He also served as regional director of the Community Services Administration in Kansas City, where he directed a federal grant program.
Thomas succeeds Nancy Williams, who retired as executive director of the East Missouri agency.
Michael Anders, a Cape Girardeau native, has joined the National Institute of Health at Bethesda, Md., as assistant director of respirator care and physiologic monitoring.
Anders is a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia, with a bachelor's degree from the school of health relations professions' respiratory therapy program, and a master's degree in technical education.
He is a 1986 graduate of Cape Central High School and 1987 graduate of the respiratory therapy program at the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School. He was employed at Southeast Missouri Hospital before entering UM-Columbia.
He has served as director of respiratory care the past two years at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Joe Hercik of Jackson, the top vehicle salesman for Ford Groves Motor Co., has been selected for the 300-500 Masters Award, for professional achievement in sales and customer satisfaction for 1994.
The honor places Hercik in the top 10 percent of Ford salesmen nationally.
Ford Groves has sales operations at Jackson and Cape Girardeau.
Lisa R. Neumeyer of Sikeston is the new manager of the Sikeston Factory Outlet Stores.
Neumeyer, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in business administration, has nine years management experience and has worked as manager of the Libbey Glass Store in the outlet mall the past two years.
The outlet center is near Interstate 55 and Highway 60 at Sikeston, and has 34 stores.
Wilma J. Schaefer has retired as postmaster from the Dongola, Ill., Post Office.
Schaefer, who started her postal career 30 years ago as clerk at Wolf Lake, Ill., was postmaster at Dongola the past seven years.
In between she served as a clerk "on loan" at Cape Girardeau and later at Carbondale, Ill.
She also served as postmaster at Thebes, Ill., from 1981-1988.
Schaefer is a member of the National Association of Postmasters and the Little Egypt Postmasters Assciation.
Rosemary McAllister of Cape Girardeau recently joined Creative Memories as a consultant.
Creative Memories, a nationwide company providing workshops and classes on how to preserve and display photographs, is based in St. Cloud, Minn. The company also sells photo albums and supplies.
