David Crader, chief executive officer of The Bank of Missouri and chairman of Reliable Community Bancshares Inc., recently was named a recipient of the Missourian Award, a recognition for outstanding contributions to the state or nation in the fields of civics, business, arts or politics, according to a news release from the bank. Crader was chosen for his work with Teen Challenge, the release stated. He serves as vice chairman of the board of directors of Teen Challenge USA. James Bolin of Teen Challenge Mid-America said in the release Crader has been "an avid supporter" of the organization for nearly 20 years. Crader will be honored at a reception Aug. 15 at Chateau on the Lakes Convention Center in Branson, Missouri. Past recipients of the award include Walter Cronkite, Walt Disney and Harry S. Truman. To be eligible for the award, one must be born in Missouri, or under exceptional circumstances, may qualify by having spent at least 15 years of his or her life in the state, according to the release.

Matt McDowell recently was named general manager of the soon-to-open Hampton Inn in Cape Girardeau. According to a news release from Midamerica Hotels Corp., which is opening the Hampton Inn, McDowell has worked for Midamerica Hotels for for 10 years, most recently as general manager of the Auburn Place Hotel & Suites in Cape Girardeau for the last four years. During his management of Auburn Place Hotel & Suites, McDowell led the hotel through a renovation and to winning the 2014 Midamerica Diamond Service Awards and a recognition by TripAdvisor. McDowell will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Hampton Inn and "maintaining the award-winning service expected at Midamerica Hotels," the release stated. The new hotel, located on Mount Auburn Road, is set to open later this year and will be the second Hampton Inn owned by Midamerica Hotels and the third hotel MidAmerica Hotels owns in Cape Girardeau.

David Blalock of Malden, Missouri, recently was hired as the new executive director of the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission. The commission, based in Dexter, Missouri, provides planning and economic development services in Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Scott and Stoddard counties. Blalock is a transportation project designer for the Missouri Department of Transportation, according to the Dexter Daily Statesman, and has been employed by MoDOT for 31 years. He will replace executive director Steve Duke, who is retiring.

Dr. Joseph M. McClain recently joined Saint Francis Medical Center as a medical partner and trauma surgeon at Cape Trauma Specialists. McClain is board-certified in general and thoracic surgery, according to a news release from Saint Francis. He joins trauma surgeons Dr. Michael P. Heid and Dr. Richard H. Roettger at the medical center's state-designated Level III Emergency and Trauma Center. McClain earned a medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the release stated, and completed a general surgery internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He completed his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and is completing a surgical critical care/trauma fellowship at Maricopa County Medical Center/Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, according to the release. McClain has served as director of cardiothoracic surgery and cardiovascular surgery for several institutes and medical centers, the release stated, and was the chief of thoracic and vascular surgery with the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq.

Dr. Andrew Ralls recently joined Saint Francis Medical Center as a medical partner and hospitalist. Ralls joins 13 other hospitalists who provide care to hospitalized patients. He is a native of Cape Girardeau and a Southeast Missouri State University graduate, according to a news release from Saint Francis. Ralls earned a medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Virginia Campus, the release stated, and his clinical interests include critical-care medicine and cardiovascular care.

Rodney Bollinger, public works director for the city of Jackson, and Kent Peetz, the city's director of wastewater utilities, recently earned Certification of Supervisory Leadership from the Missouri Public Utility Alliance. Bollinger and Peetz will be recognized among statewide municipal utility peers at an upcoming alliance meeting, according to a news release from the city. The training to earn the certification includes 24 hours of work "designed to develop core supervisory leadership skills in current or future leadership roles," and graduates of the course include current supervisors, field staff, linemen, front line, administrative staff and employees soon to be in supervisory roles with municipal utilities, the release stated.

Shaver will continue to specialize in residential property sales in the Sikeston area, according to a news release from the real-estate company. Shaver completed training and licensing through the Professional School of Real Estate in broker responsibilities, office operations, requirements, regulations, financing and management, the release stated. Shaver has been a licensed real estate salesperson since 1999 and has been recognized by the Century 21 system as a top producer.
