Realty company hires agents, HR director

Exit Realty-Thomas Meyer Associates in Cape Girardeau has hired four agents and a human resources and marketing director. Robert Muehring of Marble Hill, Mo., will serve the Cape Girardeau and Marble Hill area in all levels of real estate. Muehring served six years in the U.S. Navy as a senior enlisted non-commissioned petty officer. He also has worked for various companies in supervisor positions and recently became a certified seniors specialist from the American School of Real Estate. Three other agents will serve the Cape Girardeau and Jackson area. Robert M. Shirley of Cape Girardeau recently retired from a 35-year career with Emerson Electric, where he worked in various management positions. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) in 1965. Steve Missey of Cape Girardeau graduated with an associates degree from Sanford-Brown College in St. Louis, then worked as a paralegal before getting his Realtor's license. Rocky Strand of Pocahontas currently owns S&S Drywall. Strand graduated from the Cape Girardeau School of Real Estate and has experience in development and new home construction. Ashley Breland of Poplar Bluff, Mo., will serve as the company's new human resources and marketing director. Breland is a 2003 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School and is currently a senior at Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in business management and human resources with emphasis on marketing, business communications, management information systems and finance. Breland has seven years' experience in banking.

Bira earns health-care execs service award

Southeast Missouri Hospital vice president Pat Bira has been awarded the American College of Healthcare Executives service award. The award recognizes Bira's contributions to health-care management. Bira, who holds fellow status in the organization, is affiliated with the Southeast Region Chapter. His service has included committee chairmanship and membership on local, St. Louis region and national initiatives with the organization. Bira has been a vice president at Southeast Missouri Hospital since 2000.

Christy LeGrand, projects coordinator for the Missouri Research Corp. at Southeast Missouri State University, and Missy Marshall, executive director of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, were both presented with the Spirit of Service award by the Delta Regional Authority at its annual conference in Memphis, Tenn. In 2006, the Missouri Governor's Office selected Marshall and LeGrand to participate in the Delta Leadership Institute, a year-long program focused on building leadership skills among participants from the authority's eight-state region. Each year, 30 to 40 individuals graduate from the institute and are encouraged to become part of the institute's alumni group, called the Delta Leadership Network, and continue interaction and project work with their peers. Marshall led efforts to establish a new website that will launch in August. LeGrand will begin as project manager in September, helping to establish the alumni advisory board and facilitate connection, networking and project work among members.

Hendrickson named marketing coordinator

Rhett Hendrickson of Cape Girardeau has been named coordinator of marketing and public relations for the Lutheran Home and Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau. Hendrickson received his bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He has spent the last 12 years working with not-for-profit organizations including the Boy Scouts of America and Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Physician joins Saint Francis Medical Center

Dr. Cassandra J. Haddox has joined the Saint Francis Medical Center emergency medicine staff, where she will be working at the Gene E. Huckstep Emergency Center/Level III Trauma Center. Haddox earned her medical degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Mo. She then completed a residency in emergency medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and is board eligible in emergency medicine. Haddox is certified in advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation.
