Ruark earns top certification

Rhonda Ruark, human resources manager at TG Missouri Corp. in Perryville, Mo., recently earned certification as a senior professional in human resources. The certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute, signifies that Ruark possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field.

Local accountant completes tax course

David M. Plassman, a CPA with Schott & Van de Ven, certified public accountants, has completed a class on consolidated returns. The two-day class was held in Brentwood, Tenn., and sponsored by the Tennessee Society of CPAs. The course taught how to identify the latest tax elections and develop paper analysis to support filings. Plassman works primarily with business clients and has been with the firm since 1995.

Jackson, Mo., Realtor Ken Howard has been awarded the Graduate of the Realtors Institute designation by the Missouri Association of Realtors. Howard received the designation after completing 90 hours of specific education outlined by the National Association of Realtors. Howard is a broker with Century 21 Heartland Realty.

ERA Cape Realty adds staff member

Rose Williams has recently joined ERA Cape Realty's team of real estate professionals. Williams, originally from the St. Louis area, has lived in Cape Girardeau for three years and is married to Jerry Williams. As part of ERA Cape Realty, Williams will offer homebuyers and sellers services such as online listings, home warranty plans, the ERA Sellers Security Plan and more.

Central grad gets promotion

Associated Electric Cooperative has promoted Dale Evans, senior engineer at New Madrid Power Plant, to the position of plant performance manager. As plant performance manager, Evans' responsibilities include helping the plant manager to improve plant performance in safety, employee training, plant availability, energy production, heat rate and profitability. Evans, a Central High School graduate, joined Associated in 1997. He also has a master's degree in business administration.

Hodges completes certification testing

J. Derieck Hodges of Albrecht-Hodges, Inc., has successfully completed the Annual Continuing Education Requirement of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors in Austin, Texas. In order to earn the designation CIC (certified insurance counselor), Hodges attended five institutes covering all phases of the insurance business and passed five written exams. Hodges, an 18-year veteran of the industry, has been a CIC since 1995.
