For the third consecutive year, Commerce Bank has ranked highest among retail banks in the Midwest region in J.D. Power and Associates' 2010 Retail Banking Satisfaction Study. Commerce Bank's score of 809 increased significantly over last year's score of 768. The study was conducted from Jan. 7 through Feb. 1 and measures customer satisfaction within the retail banking industry. It considered six factors: account activities, account information, product offerings, facility, fees and problem resolution. In addition, each year Forbes evaluates America's 100 largest banks, and Commerce ranked third. The rankings are based on criteria that measured asset quality, capital adequacy and profitability.
Jim Burke, a sales agent in the AAA Cape Girardeau office, received the AAA President's Club Award. Burke was recognized for his consistent and superior standards of performance in property and casualty insurance services. To receive the award, he had to meet goals in auto insurance sales, loss ratios and policyholder services. In addition, Burke received a President's Club diamond ring, an award which recognized AAA's top 12 sales agents. Burke has been with AAA since 1986 working as a sales agent.
Three Cape Girardeau business leaders currently serve on the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry board of directors. They are Linda Greaser, site industrial engineer and public affairs for Proctor & Gamble; John Mehner, president and CEO of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce; and Kathy Swan, president of JCS/Tel-Link. The Missouri Chamber of Commerce also recently selected Rep. Steve Tilly, R-Perryville, to receive its highest legislative award, called the Man in the Arena Award.
Paul H. Berens of the Cape Girardeau law firm of Bradshaw, Steele, Cochrane & Berens will be a featured speaker at the third annual St. Louis Bankruptcy Conference on Friday. He will join Thomas Waldron of Dayton, Ohio, a nationally recognized expert and publisher in the bankruptcy area. Berens will speak on the topics of involuntary bankruptcy and Chapter 12 (family farmer).
The International Water Quality Association presented Orville Schaefer, former owner of Schaefer Water Centers, the Ray Cross Award at the annual convention and trade show in Orlando, Fla. The Ray Cross Award is given to one member each year for his or her "pioneer spirit and unwavering commitment to make a notable difference in the water treatment industry." Schaefer was honored for his commitment to the Missouri and Illinois state water associations and the WQA. The Water Quality Association is a not-for-profit international trade organization representing the residential, commercial, and industrial water treatment industry.
