Cape CVB's Vickery selected to Chamber leadership program
Sarah Vickery, director of sales and marketing at the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, has joined a group of 30 Missouri business and state leaders chosen to participate in Leadership Missouri, a seven-month leadership enhancement program sponsored by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Leadership Missouri, founded in 1990, is an education program designed to enhance the leadership skills of current and emerging leaders through an exploration of the state's economic, political and social issues. Gov. Jay Nixon serves as the honorary chairman of Leadership Missouri.
Local veterinarian attends Las Vegas conference
Dr. Kelly Smith recently attended the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas. Smith is an associate veterinarian at Dogwood Veterinary Hospital, 1208 W. Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau.
Modern Woodmen announces awards, achievements
Modern Woodmen of America Fraternal Financial announced financial representatives in Missouri's East Region who made recent accomplishments. Bob Houchins of Jackson attained the Fraternal Insurance Counselor designation, which is earned by representatives devoting more than one year to meet examination and career development criteria. Ken Volkerding of Cape Girardeau was named to the organization's 2009 President's Club, a designation earned through high achievement in life insurance sales among the organization's representatives. Ginger Dunn of Scott City recently completed Kaplan Financial's needs-analysis course.
Rose Bed Inn staff attend multistate conference
Rose Bed Inn co-owner and innkeeper Eldon G. Nattier and event coordinator and assistant innkeeper Joy Rubi-Brown recently attended a four-day multistate bed and breakfast conference in Independence, Mo. The convention was attended by bed and breakfast owners and aspiring owners from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Ohio. Rose Bed Inn is at 611 S. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau.
