Warner attends guttering convention
Mark Werner of Dutch Guttering in Jackson, Mo., has attended a National Gutter Helmet Dealers Convention in Clearwater, Fla. The three-day meeting consisted of meetings, seminars and sales presentations that also featured new product lines to be introduced in the spring.
Gutter Helmet is a gutter and roof protection system that keeps out leaves, ice, snow and debris.
Harris named agent for Country Insurance
Scott Harris of Cape Girar-deau has been named an agent for Country Insurance and Financial Services. As part of his training, Harris recently completed the organization's New Agent School.
The school is designed to help agents expand their knowledge about the products and financial solutions Country offers customers. Harris lives with his wife, Dana, and will serve customers from his office at 1200 N. Kingsway, Suite 3, in Cape Girardeau.
Allstate agent gets designation
Kathy Darby, a personal financial representative with Allstate Financial Services, LLC, recently obtained her professional designation as a certified long-term care specialist.
Darby completed an eight-part multidisciplinary course. Allstate Financial Services is the business unit of the Allstate Corp., representing the affiliates that provide life insurance, retirement and investment products.
Medical director named for rehab unit
Dr. Neal H. Frauwirth, a physiatrist, has been named medical director of Southeast Missouri Hospital's new Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
The unit, which has 17 private rooms, opened in October. Frauwirth received a bachelor's degree in neurobiology from the University of Florida at Gainesville. He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
A physiatrist is a physician specially trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation. A relatively new specialty, only about 1 percent of the nation's physicians are physiatrists. The specialty developed following World War II, when thousands of badly injured military personnel returned home in need of extensive rehabilitation.
Prior to coming to Cape Girardeau, Frauwirth practiced in New York.
Southeast alumnus earns perfect score in test
Matthew Pierce, a December 2001 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, has earned a perfect score on the Major Field Achievement Test in Business.
University officials don't recall ever seeing a perfect score. Pierce, of Patton, Mo., graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 grade-point average. He received a bachelor of science in business administration, majoring in accounting. Undergraduate business students take the exam during the capstone business course "Business Policies and Strategies." Pierce works at his father's accounting firm, Kenneth W. Pierce, CPA, in Fredericktown, Mo.
B&B owners approved as members of state group
Eldon G. Nattier and James F. Coley, owners of the Rose Bed Inn Bed and Breakfast, were recently approved as new members of Bed and Breakfast Inns of Missouri, the state's bed and breakfast professional association. The Rose Bed Inn, at 611 S. Sprigg St., received the highest score ever given following an intense inspection.
Accountant attends annual conference
Debra K. Johns, staff accountant with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants attended the Missouri Society of CPAs annual Accounting and Auditing Conference.
The conference covered recently issued accounting and auditing pronouncements. Johns is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and has been in public accounting since 1982.
Schott & Van de Ven is a full-service public accounting firm located at 1020 N. Kingshighway, Suite D, Cape Girardeau. Founded in 1959, the firm has satellite offices in Marble Hill, Mo., and Marion, Ill.
