Hand therapist joins St. Francis staff
Certified hand therapist Donna Hart Goodson, OTR/L, CHT, CRIMT, has joined the staff of St. Francis Medical Center to begin a hand therapy program. Hand therapists receive advanced training after years of experience in physical or occupational therapy.
Goodson is one of only four certified hand therapists in Cape Girardeau. A graduate of the University of North Dakota, she has more than 17 years of professional therapy experience.
Goodson provides therapy to patients who have hand and wrist conditions and injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, joint replacements. reattachment surgeries, sprains, strains, tendon lacerations and tendonitis.
CPA attends career development courses
Melvin J. Van de Ven, a CPA with Schott & Van de Ven, recently attended the Career Development Institute and Current Update in Valuations. Sponsored by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, Van de Ven attended four days of specialized classes.
As a certified valuation analyst, Van de Ven is certified to provide expertise, objectivity and integrity in business valuations, litigation support and business consulting. Only certified public accountants are admitted to the program. Van de Ven has been a CPA for 34 years and a partner in the firm for more than 30 years.
Former Oran teacher wins Disney award
Ginger Schwab has received third place in the Disney Teacherrific Awards in the elementary school category. Now a teacher at Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School in Florida, she won the award for "Journey Beyond the Classroom, Destination Mars."
Schwab is the daughter of John and Marilyn Schwab of Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the 1993 graduating class at Central High School and also attended Southeast Missouri State University. She taught two years at Oran before moving to Florida.
