The governing board of directors for the Community Counseling Center has elected David W. Ramsey of Perryville, Missouri, as a board member representing Perry County. He will serve on the board's policy committee. Before retiring this year, Ramsey was a high-school teacher in the Perry County School District from 1977 to 2004 and a college instructor at Mineral Area College from 1995 to 2015. He and his wife became co-owners of Ponderosa Steakhouse in Perryville in 1999.

Darren Wallis

Darren Wallis has joined Bayer as vice president and head of communications for the CropScience division. Wallis is the son of Jim and Rhoda Wallis of Millersville and is a 1988 Jackson High School graduate. In his new position, he will be responsible for all internal and external corporate communications, a news release from Bayer stated. He will be based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Wallis has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications and most recently worked at Monsanto in St. Louis.

Leigh Segraves

Agents from 1st Class Travel in Cape Girardeau recently attended the Mark Travel Corp.'s 2015 at the Moon Palace resort in Cancun. Jennifer Christensen and Leigh Segraves attended multitrack workshops designed for owners, agents and managers, met with hoteliers and convention and visitors bureaus and heard keynote speakers, according to a news release from 1st Class. They also viewed the new Hyatt Ziva, which opens this month, and the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun.

Kristopher Klaus

Kristopher Klaus of Perryville, vice president of Klaus Construction, will participate in the Delta Regional Authority's Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy. During the yearlong academy, Klaus will attend six sessions across the Delta region and in Washington, D.C., for advocacy training, case-study discussion and field studies of priority issue areas for the region, including public health, small business and entrepreneurship, transportation and more, according to a news release from the Delta Regional Authority. Academy participants are nominated by their respective governors.

Dr. Terry Cleaver of Regional Brain & Spine in Cape Girardeau has announced his retirement effective Jan. 1. Patients will continue to be able to receive pain-management care from Dr. Christopher Reis, Kristi Skinner and Stephanie Riley, according to a release from Regional Brain & Spine.
