Jackson graduate joins accounting firm
Patrick W. Kintner, a 1992 graduate of Jackson High School, recently joined the accounting firm of Stanley, Dirnberger, Hopper & Associates in Cape Girardeau.
Kintner is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. He worked the past seven years at Deloitte & Touche in St. Louis, where he specialized in providing audit and assurance services. He is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Area accountant attends national meeting
William R. "Bill" Schott, a CPA with Schott & Van de Ven, certified public accountants, recently attended the chief executive network meeting in Atlanta.
The network includes senior level executives who share ideas and advice on improving their companies. Schott is one of 12 CPAs who met in roundtables to discuss key issues like market trends.
Doctor attends surgical conference
Dr. Walter A. Schroeder recently attended the "Current Concepts in Head and Neck Surgery" seminar at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y.
Schroeder is the American College of Surgeons liaison physician at both Southeast Missouri Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center.
Area woman named to business advisory council
Vicki Smith has been appointed to serve on the Business Advisory Council for the Republican Party. Officials from the National Republican Congressional Committee announced the appointment.
As part of her duties, Smith will serve Missouri in an effort to involve businesspeople in the government reform process. The council's goal is to give small business a voice in government.
Smith is chief executive officer of Cross Trails Medical Center, a federally qualified center with sites in Cape Girardeau, Advance and Marble Hill.
Prudential names volunteer award winners
Barbara Burnette and Crystal Burress were recognized in the 12th annual Prudential Community Champions Awards Program, which recognizes Prudential associates and volunteers who have excelled in volunteer commitment, leadership and service in 2002.
Burnette received a Prudential Community Champions Rising Star Award of $250 for Troop 212 of the Otahki Girl Scout Council. Burress received the same award in the same amount for the American Cancer Society.
