Brennecke joins Classic Designs
Shauna Brennecke has joined Classic Designs in Cape Girardeau. Formerly of Gary and Co., Brennecke has been in the business 13 years. Classic Designs offers all service, including coloring, facials, pedicures, massages, nails, cuts and perms. She will be working Thursdays and Fridays.
Accountants attend fall tax seminar
Debra K. Johns and CPAs Bradley J. Tuschhoff, Howard J. Poston and Lonnie R. Lusk, with Schott and Van de Ven, recently attended the Missouri Society of CPAs Fall Tax Institute.
The two-day course reviewed changes made by recent court cases and IRS rulings. Vital information on S corporations, C corporations and LLCs was presented. The four accountants have experience in corporate, partnership, LLC and individual income tax return preparation.
Also, Scott A. Van de Ven, CPA, attended the National Conference on Federal Taxes. The three-day event was held in Washington, D.C., and sponsored by the American Institute of CPAs.
The national conference brings together public accountants with the IRS's top leadership to exchange ideas concerning federal tax procedural issues.
Van de Ven attended consulting, management, specialized and taxation classes. He is a member of the AICPA, Optimist Club and serves on the taxation committee for the Missouri Society of CPAs.
Francis completes course on fire inspection
Robert A. Francis of the Missouri Division of Fire Safety completed the National Fire Academy's Fire Inspection Principles course in Emmitsburg, Md., in October.
The course provides students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to conduct basic and intermediate-level fire safety inspections.
Students are introduced to various codes and standards in order to develop a working knowledge of their application in the inspection process.
Francis lives in Cape Girardeau.
Hetzel receives franchise award for House Doctors
Rick Hetzel, who opened House Doctors Handyman Service in October 2001, recently received the annual award for the top new franchise in the country. During the awards ceremony in Cincinnati, president and CEO Steve Cohen described Hetzel's new business as one that has taken this award category to a new plateau, with more than $300,000 in sales during its first year.
Davis passes test to become private pilot
The Cape Girardeau Regional Airport announced Shannon York Davis for passing his Private Pilot Check-ride. Davis started his private pilot training in September. On Nov. 10, after extensive flight on ground training, Davis passed the private pilot certification test.
