Nancy H. Blattner will be vice president and dean for academic affairs at Fontbonne University in St. Louis effective July 1. Blattner once served as the associate dean of the School of University Studies and as the academic associate in the Office of the Provost at Southeast Missouri State University. She was also a professor in the Department of English at Southeast.

Life Care Center appoints director of social services

Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau recently appointed Jeep McCart as the director of social services. McCart is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and will be responsible for admissions, helping patients return to home and working with the resident and families.

Delta in Cape makes two new hires

Delta Companies Inc. of Cape Girardeau, one of the largest aggregate operations dealing in production of limestone, sandstone, sand and gravel in the region, has hired two people. David Trippany is the new general manager of the Northern Division. He will oversee management of Southeast Missouri Stone, Southern Illinois Stone, Williamsville Stone, Brown Sand and Gravel and Catherine Stone. Patrick L. Camp will be the new corporate controller, responsible for day-to-day financial operations, financial oversight for the regional offices and cash management.

Two employees of the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence have recently received special training and education. Nurse practitioner Kathy Blevins completed the Advanced Medical Training Academy at the Midwest Regional Children's Advocacy Center in St. Paul, Minn. The training was designed for professionals who provide medical evaluations for children who are suspected victims of abuse. Victims advocate Kendra Eads recently attended the Missouri Juvenile Justice Association's 53rd Educational Conference. She attended presentations on topics such as gangs, juvenile law and clinical issues for childhood and adolescence.

Local lawyers, volunteer serve Missouri Bar

Lawyers Joe Buerkle and Kim Moore, along with local volunteer Winifred Hirsch have been serving the Missouri Bar as volunteers at its Fee Dispute Resolution Program. To do so, they received training in mediation and arbitration techniques to help settle fee disputes between lawyers and clients.

Rural Development reps in Jackson recognized

Three employees for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, formerly Farmers Home Administration, in Jackson were recently recognized by the state director for making the largest number of single-family housing loans in Missouri for 2004. Community development manager Randal Friend, community development assistant Debra Baker and community development technician Whitney Watts made loans totaling over $3 million. Their office serves Bollinger, Cape Girardeau and Perry counties.

JCS/Tel-Link president wins alumni award

Kathy Swan, president of JCS/Tel-Link in Cape Girardeau, has been awarded the 2004 Outstanding Leadership Cape Girardeau Alumni Award. She received the award at the Leadership Cape annual meeting on Oct. 29. At the meeting, Swan was recognized for her achievements in business and community service.
