Pain management specialist Dr. Robert Bowers has joined Saint Francis Healthcare System as a new Saint Francis Medical Partner.
He joins two other specialists at the Pain Management Center.
Bowers earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati and completed his anesthesiology residency and a pain-management fellowship at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.
Chronic pain and interventional procedures are among his primary clinical interests.
"Dr. Bowers comes to Saint Francis with a wealth of advanced pain-management expertise," Steven C. Bjelich, president and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare System, said in a news release. "His knowledge will prove to be incredibly beneficial to residents in the region who need the latest pain-management tools."
Saint Francis Healthcare System also announced the appointment of Clayton Suggs as the patient care manager of orthopedics and surgical for the system.
Suggs has been an employee of Saint Francis since 2008. He began as a staff nurse on orthopedics, later becoming the assistant patient-care manager on the medical floor.
In his new role, Suggs is responsible for the delivery of care, development of policies and procedures, standards of care and protocols in accordance with the Saint Francis policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives.
Suggs earned an associate of applied science in nursing from Shawnee Community College in 2008 and his bachelor's degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in 2015.
